MCSE, which stands for Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer, was the gold standard for systems administration, design, security and certifications in network until 2003. The certification is in transition for various certifications, although the basic requirements of these certifications are the same and are still available. MCSE courses have been renamed, but the basic elements of study remain substantially the same.

Certifications MCSE designate an individual as an expert on architecture and operation of Windows 2003 server environment. Certification is divided into basic and specialty certifications. The basic requirements are achieved by passing four tests: Managing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Implementing, Managing, and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure, Planning and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Network Infrastructure and Planning, Implementing and Maintaining a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory Infrastructure. These four tests are required knowledge for an expert in the advanced configuration of the server operating system.

To complete the certification, several other tests were needed that enabled an engineer to specialize their skills. Those who seek certification could choose between one of three elective exams to improve their skills in client operating system: TS: Windows Vista, Configuring, Installing, Configuring and Administering Windows XP Professional Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional.

The design part of the certification was obtained by either completing the design of a Windows Server 2003 Active Directory and Network Infrastructure or security review designing a Windows Server 2003 review. These basic skills are the foundation of the program.

From this point, there were several elective exams from which they could choose to complete their certification. The final choice exam covered basic needs in more detail, proficiency testing for specific security, advanced architecture, Terminal Services and Microsoft Exchange Server. Individuals who wore an MCSE could and could always command high prices for their time. Among computer technicians, they are generally regarded as some of those most qualified and skilled workers in the field.

An MCSE is still available and incredibly useful. The program is in transition, however, the MCITP certification. There are programs that allow individuals with MSCE certification make the transition to the new certification, if they so choose, but an MCSE has not lost its relevance or weight and always refers to a highly skilled technician.

The courses required for an MCSE are widely available online and training centers around the country. The training centers are in partnership with Microsoft and provide the coursework necessary to pass various examinations required for certification. These courses are developed, and are generally recommended that people taking them have experience in the technology before embarking on the field of advanced study. An A + certification, training in a computer network or substantial training on the job training is very useful if one wants to take the MCSE classes. This certification is one of the best ways to increase his earning potential.
